| Merlewood is conveniently
situated for St. Annes shopping centre.
It is only a two minute walk to the beach and promenade facilities
including swimming pool, children's play-ground, miniature railway,
pitch and putt, alpine gardens, paddling pool and pier. The Island
entertainment centre houses a bowling alley, cinema, amusement machines
and restaurants.
The New Wood Street Cafe Quarter
in St. Annes is almost entirely
devoted to eating and drinking. Snacks to fine foods and wines can
be found at any time of day. From Continental delicacies for breakfast,
light Mediterranean for lunch to Far Eastern cuisine for dinner,
you are bound to find something to suit.
Situated on the Fylde 'Golf Coast',
Merlewood is close to four renowned
Championship Golf Courses. The most famous of these is the Royal
Lytham and St. Annes, host to the Open Golf Championship. The St. Annes
Old Links' openness to sea breezes guarantees a traditional links
game. Both of these courses are within half a mile of the Merlewood.
The parkland beauty of the Fairhaven Golf Course and the tree lined
challenge of Lytham Green Golf Course all help to ensure our reputation
as having the finest example of sea side golf, and all within a ten
minute
drive.
Fairhaven Lake is just over a mile
away. The Lake is open for people
to enjoy boating activities from May to September. Windsurfing is available
by licensed contract, with use of own equipment. Fairhaven boasts four
bowling greens, 3 crown greens and 1 flat green, 7 hard surface tennis
courts, crazy golf course and putting green. The childrens' play area
has all modern equipment. A Trim Trail is available for both children
and adults alike and for those with wheels there is a popular skateboard
park.
Fairhaven Lake is situated on the
Ribble Estuary, an internationally
important wildlife site, attracting more than 250,000 migratory wildfowl
annually. The estuary is famous for attracting more species of wading
birds than any other in the British Isles. The Salt Marsh provides a
breeding site for Waders, Terns and Gulls, whilst the mud-flats are
rich
feeding grounds for waders in winter and on their long migration between
the Arctic and Africa.
For the more adventurous of spirit,
the attractions of Blackpool are just
a few minutes away by car. Public transport links to both Lytham and
Blackpool are directly opposite the apartments. Here you can enjoy
the thrills and spills of rollercoaster action at Blackpool Pleasure
Beach, the Sea Life Centre, Blackpool's famous Tower Complex and
Circus, many theatres, nightclubs and of course the Illuminations.
